our story
Rumpelstiltskin opened on R Street in 1971 and has been a crafting staple in Sacramento ever since. Our mission is to encourage the local fiber arts community to find and grow their passions through high-quality resources, education, and inspiration.
In 2016, the shop was purchased by long-time employee Ciara Crain and given a fresh look with exciting new brands and supplies. We’re grateful for this community’s long support of Rumpelstiltskin, and look forward to welcoming you soon!

Ciara began working at Rumpelstiltskin in 2002 while still in high school—she didn't even know how to knit! After her first day on the job, she learned to knit and was quite literally hooked. Ciara worked at the shop on and off for many years and in 2016, when the previous owner announced her retirement, Ciara decided to make her "fun job" full time. She purchased the shop, rebranded, and continues to work hard at maintaining the legacy of this local treasure.
