learn to knit for beginners

If you’ve never touched a knitting needle before this is the class for you! You’ll learn to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, and start your very first project by the end of the last class. Price includes yarn and needles.

beyond basic cast ons and bind offs

Does your project need a firm edge or one that stretches? A contrasting edge or one that blends? Find just the right cast ons and bind offs to really make your project shine! TKGA-certified Master Hand Knitter Celia will teach you how to execute a variety of cast on and bind off techniques and give you the tools to select the best one for different projects.

beginning brioche

Sundays 11:00 - 2:00 pm

It’s fluffy, lush, and reversible – no wonder brioche knitting has become so popular. TKGA-certified Master Hand Knitter Celia McAdam Cahill will teach you the terminology and techniques for making your own brioche creations. Session 1 will get you comfortable with the stitch anatomy, terminology like brks and brps, and appropriate cast ons and bind offs. Session 2 builds on those techniques and brings in color as you create a two color brioche headband project.

knit socks on circular needles

Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm

Learn how to knit a pair of socks using two circular needles. You will learn the basics of knitting in the round with two circular needles, how to turn the heel, and work the kitchener stitch. Purchase a 100 gm skein of sock yarn, and two Addi Turbo size #1, 24″ needles (1 silver and 1 gold) at the store. You must know how to cast on, knit in the round, and purl.

learn to weave in a weekend

Saturday 12 - 4pm Sunday 11 - 1 pm

Learn to warp and weave on a rigid heddle loom. You will learn how to warp your loom and complete a small project by the end of the second class. Homework is required between classes. Loom rental is included, or you may bring your own. Students who wish to purchase a loom will receive $40 off the purchase price. Project kits are available at the shop and include 2 skeins of yarn for your project.

learn to weave

Tuesdays 5:00 - 8:00pm

Learn to warp and weave on a rigid heddle loom. You will practice warping using a warping peg during each class, and will complete three small projects by the end of the session. Homework is required between each class. Loom rental is available for $40, which may be applied towards the purchase of a loom. Project kits for the first class are available for purchase at the shop and include 2 skeins of yarn. Yarn is not included for classes 2 and 3. Please bring scissors, tape measure, pen, and paper.

advanced weaving

Sundays 12 - 4pm

Do you want to expand your weaving and learn a new structure? Learn about pick up which greatly opens up possibilities by allowing you to weave as if you had more shafts. This technique is fun to weave yet it allows you to expand your weaving repertoire. Come weave a scarf or a dish towel and learn the new structure waffle weave. You will need to purchase a pick up stick for this technique. Project kits are available. Experience required: you have warped a rigid heddle loom before.

knit for beginners – first project

You just learned how to knit, what’s next? Learn how to follow a pattern and pick up some new techniques in our beginners project class. You can choose either a simple hat or shawl, and you will be guided through each step of your project. A supply list is available at the shop, pattern included.

Are you stuck on a pattern or need help with a tricky technique? We are here to help! Drop in for an SOS session and we will get you back on track. Bring your knit or crochet project, and our resident expert Rusty will assist with whatever you need. No need to sign up, $25 per session.

learn to crochet

Tuesdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm

Crochet for beginners! In this class you will learn how to create a foundation chain, and do a single and double crochet stitch. In session 2 you will learn how to read a pattern and make a classic granny square. Pick up one skein of light colored worsted weight yarn and a size I or J crochet hook at the shop.

Learn to make your very first crochet project! This is a great follow up to our learn to crochet class. Rusty will walk you through how to crochet a hat or hand warmers, and you will learn how to follow a crochet pattern.

drop spindle 101

Learn the basics of spinning yarn from fleece using a drop spindle. No experience required. You will need a drop spindle, available for purchase at the shop, roving will be provided.

learn to spin on a wheel

Sundays 11:00 - 1:00 pm

A great follow up to our Drop Spindle class or a great refresher course if you’ve put your wheel away for a while! You may bring your own wheel or use a store spinning wheel. Roving will be provided. We will cover spinning wheel mechanics and parts of the wheel, wheel and spinning vocabulary, drafting, fiber types, and plying.
